Description
Last month Bryan was trying to raise some funds for a Sideshow Toys Statue so he sent out an email to some of his frequent commissioners asking if they would be interested in commissioning some work. At the time I couldn't afford to commission a piece so I mentioned that I might be interested in some of the warmup pieces if he had any he thought I might like. He said he would have to go through his bins and see what he had available but wouldn't be able to do it until the weekend. While searching through the "ancient, cob-webby tupperware bins in my dungeon" he found 4 pieces that he thought I might like.

I decided to purchase 2 of the four and sent him an offer. He accepted since I always send offers that I know are too enticing for Bryan to pass. The 2 pieces that I chose were Batsy dressed up in the Halloween costume that she wore in "Lustmord Nightmares" and Batsy dressed in an unbuttoned shirt from "Bizarre Experiments".

Well as you can see I actually ended up with 3 drawings instead of just the 2 I purchased. Bryan said he knew that these 2 were on the same sheet of bristol but he was going to cut my Halloween costumed piece off before he mailed it. "The only way to cut it in half and separate those two sketches, would have been to cut around the tail and make some ugly jigsaw puzzle bump hanging off the side of the "Halloween" board - not to mention leaving a big ugly divot cut out of the side of the "nightgown back view" board. It would have looked awful.
Back at Columbus College of Art and Design they pounded into our heads that "presentation" is just as important as whatever image you create, and I couldn't bring myself to cut the board in that hokey way. The voice of my old CCAD Illustration instructor spoke up in my head and told me I had to just keep the board intact and send out both sketches, and there was no one to blame but myself for making such a sloppy childish mistake, I should have planned it better when I drew the damn thing."

I guess I owe a big thanks to CCAD for it's, as Bryan put it, "Art College brainwashing". I was actually tempted to make an offer for that piece as well but I wanted to make a fair offer on the other 2 so was going to let it pass. I guess it was meant to be mine in the end.

I love both pieces. When I saw the Halloween costumed piece I knew I had to have it simply because it was a great piece showing Batsy in the costume that she wore to the Halloween party in "Lustmord Nightmares". Bryan doesn't sell any of the pages from Wulf and Batsy so this will be the closest I will get from the book short of commissioning something but to me this piece looks like something Bryan could have done when he was working on costume designs for the comic. Bryan was actually hoping that I wouldn't make an offer on this one because he wanted to keep it for himself. I guess he shouldn't have showed it to me if he didn't really want to sell it. And what's not to like about a sexy Batsy wearing one of Bryan's great night gowns. All in all I am very pleased with both pieces.

The night gown Batsy is published in issue 4 of the Alterna comics run on the last page as part of a mock advertisement for 1960’s/1970’s European Horror Movie Style See-Thru Nightgowns.

Size 9x12.
