Description

Dr. Strange may well be my favorite comic character. As a kid I loved the Ditko stories that I read in the Fireside books and the paperback reprints. This piece may well be the closest I will ever get to owning anything related to those stories. Colleen Coover renders this piece in her own style, of course, but it reminds me quite a bit of Ditko. I can practically see the Dark Dimension unfolding behind him or picture a confrontation with Dormammu or Eternity. I just posted a picture of Destruction and talked about how I liked the shading in that piece where color was used rather than grey. In this piece, I think she skillfully uses the dark in the shadowing of the cape to capture movement and depth. If Marvel ever decides to do a 'Dr. Strange Year One' type story, I hope they at least approach Coover to participate.
