Description

I purchased a small version (12"x15") on plywood of UrbanMedium's ubiquitous Che Trooper from the Span of Sunset Gallery in Los Angeles back in 2003. At the time this image was showing up wheat pasted and stickered in the streets of several major US cities. My political art collection with Star Wars references was mostly comprised of original political cartoon art, but I knew that this image fit in with what I was collecting. For months I tried contacting the artist to commission a larger piece but couldn't get a reply. Finally I cornered him at San Diego Comic Con about the idea of a larger piece. Once he realized I was not a crazy stalker and was ready to put cash in his hand he said, �ok". He asked how big and I said as large as you can. He mentioned a 4'x 8' piece of plywood was about as large as he could get it, but that the 8' side would have to be cut down to maintain the proportions of the image.

Several months later a monster package arrived. The piece was 48"x60" and fit perfectly on the center wall of our stairwell. It takes up the entire wall and its the only piece of art that could have done the trick.
