DescriptionIt’s their first issue. They deserve a wraparound cover!Over on ‘the auction site that shall not be named’ MC Wyman has been offering a variety of commissions from single character shots to cover creations. Occasionally, he also offers a double page spread / wraparound cover type option. I knew I had to have one of those for Val and Patsy's ‘first issue’. After I won the auction I contacted MC and told him of my Hellcat / Valkyrie series theme and about my idea for this piece. In short, I asked him to pit a quartet of Enchantress-controlled male Defenders against our heroines. I asked that Val and Patsy be on the right side of the page (that’s the front cover, after all) and that the scene should be a rubble-strewn city street. I think my only other specific request was that Namor be portrayed in his ‘bat-wing’ costume because, as a kid, I always thought that was a really cool look. This is what MC sent me. How incredibly awesome is that? I love the logo and the period cover heads and trade dress, the charging blank-eyed Defenders, and the beautiful but sinister face of the Enchantress looming above it all. And, of course, Val and Patsy look both lovely and formidable. I couldn't be more thrilled with MC's take on my theme. In our inaugural issue, the Enchantress gains control of the male members of the Defenders in a bid to destroy her hated enemy, Brunnhilde. Lucky Patsy, caught in the middle of a centuries old blood feud! And with Amora on the scene can her faithful paramour Skurge the Executioner be far behind? Don’t miss issue #2! Social/Sharing |

I am a big fan of Mr. Wyman's work..but this is truly twice as nice

Awesome! I won a cover commission from him as well, and am also getting him to do a mock Valkyrie cover. Mine's going to be for a "Valkyrie and the Lady Liberators" series...lol.

I can't wait to see it! Can we get a preview of the membership? Or should I just refer to the original avengers cover for that? :-)

Valkyrie (obviously), Lady Sif, Gamora, Dani Moonstar, and Medusa.

Valkyrie And Hellcat were two of my favourite Defenders. I so wish I could read this issue!
