Description

In the earlier part of this century (sometime between 2001 and 2005), when I approached Jim Mooney about a commission featuring Robby Reed dialing up three heroes from the Legion, I wanted the page split into three panels, with Robby dialing up one hero at a time, but Jim was right in that having them all in one scene was more dramatic. He wasn't thrilled about my choice of heroes, and asked if I instead would want more action-oriented Legionnaires like Karate Kid, instead of the heroes who just point and emit some kind of blast, but I wanted the three heroes you see here. He did a bang-up job on this. I've seen the image, or parts of it, used elsewhere, and I believe he recreated the piece several times.

Thanks, Aidan. I have another Legion piece by Mooney, featuring Supergirl, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy - it wasn't a commission, I won it on ebay, but it looks like a companion piece to this pin-up. Will post it here eventually.
