I've always really really liked this piece. Not only do I really like the character (Liz Sherman is the perfect example of a well written female hero; plus Hellboy is fantastic!) but this piece is a perfect example of Brian's fantastic design skill.

I have a suuuuper soft spot for Brian's b/w work. I love the sense of design, the negative space, the line quality... and there are few piece that combine it all as well as this piece, especially when it comes to negative space. There is a clean simplicity about it that I really enjoy.

So I am super happy I was able to add this to my collection. Bit of a right place / right time kind of situation. Thanks goes out to (as usual) Robert and of course Brian. And special thanks to whoever commissioned this and decided not to pick it up.

This is amazing- I also love the use of negative space for the smoke- funny too, as Duncan Fegredo did that in a HB piece for me. This is the best Liz piece ever- congrats!

I've been on the receiving end of a few deals where people flaked. Sometimes it was just meant to be. Really nice work with the negative space. Really tricky thing to pull off, but when done right, it usually looks amazing - as in this case!

You should check out the b/w oversized Day Men books. If you wany to see the brilliance of Brians b/w work, short of holding the originals in you hands, that is the way to go.
