DescriptionI didn't read any Marvel comics in the 90s so my first exposure to Mark Bagley's art was with Ultimate Spider-Man. And what a historic run it has been : 117 issues with Bendis, the most any writer/artist team has ever done on at Marvel. Once the whole Utimate Universe ends, I believe the only series people will remember and cherish from this 16 year long experience is Bendis & Bagley's Utimate Spider-Man.Considering the huge number of issues Bagley did, I believed it would be easy to find a great iconic piece of his run but I was wrong. It probably has to do with the majority of the covers being pencils only (a no-go for me) and not that many full splash or dps (and most of them focusing on other characters than Spidey). I'm very glad that I did not settle sooner as this dps is one of the largest Ultimate Spider-Man ever drawn (or maybe the largest one?), part of the historic "Death of Spider-Man" arc and the last iconic shot of the run (before he gets bloody, hurt, etc.). From start to finish, Bendis & Bagley's Ultimate Spider-Man has been a blast to read; it's one of my favorite modern runs because it contributed to my being addicted to Marvel again, just like Bendis' Avengers, Brubaker's Captain America or Ennis' Punisher did. Totally agree with your comments over this nifty piece. Bagley is one of the most consistent Artists around. And this is a beauty of DPS!

How did i not comment on this just yet. Absolutely phenomenal image of Spidey.
I will argue with anyone that no one draws the "eyes" for Spider-man better than Bagley. no one.
Thanks for sharing!

Wow! Hadn't seen this on the site until it just popped up in the featured square for me today. What an awesome page, from a great, great run. I was always reading ASM and didn't get into Ultimate until towards the end but I recall this arc for sure. Sooooo good.
Belated congrats!
