Pander Bros. - Grendel: Devil's Legacy (Issue 9, pages 26 & 27)

Beautiful 2 page spread done on a 19x23 inch paper. This piece is from issue 9 of Grendel: Devil's Legacy by the Pander Bros. Issue 9 was my favorite of the series. It was told almost solely by picture. The only written words were of one narrative sentence that began on the first page and continued on the last.
This piece is another great example of the Pander Bros. striking panel layouts and the art not being contained by them. On the right you can see a shadow formed from Grendel's staff outside of the panels on the framing. In the 1980's that was the first time I had ever seen that done and I don't recall seeing it since.
