Mermaid from Tides of Infamy By Cory Godbey

Cory Godbey has what he likes to call a Biennial Fire Sale. He goes through his files choosing pieces he wants to sell as well as actually purge by fire. Of course the pieces he chooses to purge by fire are not anything that he wants to let out into the wild. The great thing about the Fire Sale is that you can purchase amazing pieces at very affordable prices. I have participated in his Fire Sales few times over the years and have come away with some awesome art every time. This time was no exception. I ended up purchasing 3 fantastic pieces.

Cory listed the pieces in the store at 10 AM sharp and since he had previewed a few I knew I wanted to go after this Mermaid that he drew for the board game Tides of Infamy. I quickly went through the 7 pages of art. This year Cory listed over 125 pieces so it took a while to find the piece but as soon as I did I went ahead and checked out so no one else could swoop in and purchase it.

Cory's work is always fantastic. There is just something about his beautiful illustrative style that lends to the charm of all of his work. This particular piece was created for the board game Tides of Infamy. Cory did a number of pieces for the game as well as art for the expansion that is going to be coming out soon. When I saw this piece I immediately loved it. I'm always happy to add one of Cory pieces to the collection especially when it is as amazing as this piece.
