DescriptionFletcher Martin (1904-1979) was a noted muralist, WPA artist, and illustrator, most well known for his WWII and boxing illustrations. Martin was also hired by the US government to draw illustrations depicting Indian tribes across the USA. It's possible that this piece was done for that project, or given it's long dimension, it's also possible that it was a magazine spread. Done in both sepia and black India ink, the piece is a cross-hatch delight.Social/Sharing |
