Description

I am very happy (and a bit surprised) to be adding this splash to my gallery. But it is my birthday, so happy birthday to me! I think Dave Hunt's super-sharp inking on this issue made Fantastic Four #178 one of the best-looking George Perez FF books ever. Thanks to Michael Lovitz for doing a deal with me that allowed me to pay for this piece of art, as well as Todd Hignite at Heritage, who was very helpful when I took too long to pay for this piece.

Lee, Happy Birthday! I held this in my hands way back and later tried to make a deal with EM for this just couldn't swing it. This is perhaps the Best splash in the run by George Perez.Enjoy

Is there a Dave Hunt signature hiding somewhere on this page? It was neat to see him fill in during this time period on another popular Marvel artist with his inking duties. Owning a splash page from this prime era is all the more impressive.

I remember this splash fondly. Crazy cliffhanger ending to this issue. One of my faves from this period.
