DescriptionRalph Hershberger (1890-1970) was an Ohio-born cartoonist, most well known for his panel cartoon, Funny Business, which was a riff off of Holman's Nuts and Jolts panel. Hershberger had a charming style, similar in tone to Holman's, and at one point his panel appeared in 500 papers. I'm very pleased to offer an early magazine cartoon by Hershberger, dated 1931 on the back. As you can see, the gag revolves around bridge, which was a popular cartooning topic of the period. Sweet bigfoot cartooning, with a lovely wash technique used. 12˝"x14˝". VG condition, with some slight discoloration along the bottom inch, and a small stain in the lower left corner. $45.00 + 11.00 Priority shipping.Social/Sharing |
