Description

During the final space battle in Return of the Jedi, a lone A-Wing pilot kamikaze crashes into the mighty super star destroyer Executor after getting hit by enemy fire. It leads to the spectacular destruction of the massive 11-mile long flagship of Darth Vader. The Green Leader�s heroic sacrifice is fleeting with only a few seconds of screen time and its significance fades into the climatic scene of Lando and Nien Nunb flying their Millennium Falcon into the Death Star and blowing it to bits.

Artist Daniel Warren Johnson was moved and inspired by this quick scene in the film, compelling him to create an untold story of Green Leader on that day of the major space battle. The result is the beautifully rendered 11-page comic masterpiece with a poignant narrative sans dialogue that leaves an indelible impression.

DWJ's original intention was to print the comic for the conventions, but he decided to put it up on his website so that a lot more people can see it. Well, it worked. The comic went online on June 5, 2015 and it blew up on the web shortly after. Numerous blog and online media outlets picked it up and the rest is history. This Green Leader story is not canon (Yet), but it definitely changed my perception of the lone A-Wing pilot in that short scene.

Here's DWJ's introduction to the Green Leader comic on his website: "Ever since I was little, this has been, by far, my favorite scene in Star Wars. For some reason, this A wing pilot MOVED me. Everything about this part of Return of the Jedi made me want to DRAW and CREATE. This is a fan fiction comic I made in April, just because I love this scene and I love comics. I was originally going to only have this story in print with me at shows, but I want as many people to see it as possible. There�s a big part of me in these eleven pages, I hope you can see it."

The cover and the pages are on 11� X 17� illustration board, except the last page which is on 9� X 12� illustration board.
