Squadron Sinister 4 page 04 by Carlos Pacheco Dark Knight Returns homage

I really enjoyed the Squadron Sinister mini serie spinning out Secret Wars. Part of why I enjoyed it so much is that I believe it was Carlos Pacheco’s most inspired work in a long time. It may have to do with his love for those classic characters but that’s simply an educated guess. Or he had a good planning to pencil that serie :)

This page is for me THE page of the serie. The final confrontation that’s been building since issue 1 between Nighthawk and Hyperion. Carlos chose to draw this fight as an obvious homage to the famous punch splash of DK Returns. You can even see a “FM woz here” caption in the final panel as written by Carlos. The Squadron Supreme/Sinister being a well-known rip off of the JLA, this made sense.

The fact that FM are also my own initials is an incidental bonus ;)

And I LOVE the pure pencils obviously.
