Description

As a part of working out plots for the Crusaders All-New Adventures covers I, as all good geeks do, started compiling lists of all Archie's characters. You wouldn't know it by looking at the 80's or any of the newer series but they actually have a whole mess o' heroes. And lots of them are forgotten golden agers. Once I'd thought about trying to expand the Crusaders' universe with the Red Circle Spotlight series the idea struck me to look back to Archie's origins and play with some of those characters as well. It was easy to see a new Blue Ribbon Comics series and David Bednarski was the only artist that ever crossed my mind. David's amazing design work can be found on his deviantArt page and he's also done a lot of stuff for Roy Johnson's Standard Comics. A+ kinda guy. I was very happy that he was interested in doing these covers.

This is the last of the covers David did and he goes out with guns blazing! A trio of Archie's pulp characters getting their own spotlight - Kalthar (think Tarzan meets Giant-Man), Gypsy Johnson (think Indiana Jones) and Corporal Collins (think Black Hawk). Add to that some of Archie's golden age mer-folk and you get one ~Slam-Bang~ cover! A wonderful redesign on the mermen and the touch of Kalthar knocking the logo out of place is priceless :) What takes Blue Ribbon's place on the "release schedule"? Tune in next month to find out!

In This Issue ...

When word reaches Gypsy Johnson of a series of ship disappearances of the coastline of Madagascar the soldier of fortune can't help but investigate. It's not long after he arrives that Johnson finds that things are much more than they seem. The jungle lord Kalthar and infantry-man adventurer Corporal Collins are already knee deep in a mermen invasion! What's driving the mer-folk to attack the shipping lanes? And can our heroes stop it?
