Description

15" x 15" oils.

Painted in 1996 by JP Targete for a fantasy plate collection.

Acquired this directly from JP in 2009.

The detail on this painting is incredible. There are so many characters and details to see if you really study it.

This painting remained on rectangular illustration board for the longest time. Finding a frame for a round piece is always a challenge but it was certainly worth it as you can see.

It's funny because due to it's non standard shape, this painting was kind of the outsider for a while but now that it's framed it's now the cool kid on the block. Hoping to find some more circular paintings that I love in the future.

The frame got me thinking about those portraits in Bag End. If you can talk Raoul Vitale or Stephen Hickman into painting round portraits of Bilbo's mother and father.... Well, we've got the frame :)
