Description

I first met Vin Sullivan at my Dad's house. He had an art job he wanted my dad to help him out with. Dad intruduced him as the man who started comic books. This was sorta acurate. Vince was the first editor at DC comics in the 1930's. We became friends. He was such a gentleman. He asked me to travel with him to The San Diego Comic Convention. It was an honor to be his guest. I remember drinking martinis with Vince on the balcony of the Marriott Hotel. After the con we drove along with David Siegel to Las Vegas. Afterwards, I asked Vin to recreate Detective Comics #1. He was the original artist of this historic cover. He was glad to do it for me. When I went to pay him he wouldn't accept any money. So, I bought him a large bottle of Beefeater Gin. He took the bottle smiled and said "AH! The Holy Water."

Cool Story! At first I was like "where's Batman?" then I remembered , this is issue 1 26 before that guy who stole the book.
