Melody Wang made the animated short The Casebook of Nips & Porkington. Two constables, a cat and a pig, try to recover a stolen egg. the film student kept a tumblr account with a record of her progress.

I loved the film and met the filmmaker at the Meet and Greet session after the screening. Melody was signing autographs and doing sketches of a cat or pig. While she was drawing, we talked about her mentor Nancy Beiman, an animation instructor at Sheridan College in Canada. Beiman was one of the first students in the famous Calarts character animation program. I read her book Prepare to Board! Creating Story and characters for Animated Features and Shorts and have her Animated Performance: Bringing imaginary animal, human, and fantasy characters to life on my "to read" shelf.
