I always loved Simon in his "safari" gig. It was so different from everybody else that you couldn't help but like it. Couple that with his kinda' dopey personality and he becomes one of the main reasons I read the AVENGERS back in the day! Who could forget the "my fists are second only to Thor's hammer" line thrown into so MANY books. Simon always struck me as absent minded clutzy type. Never really smart enough to be in awe of the things he had seen and done. The guy who would promptly spill his first drink and giggle while cleaning it up, just so familiar with the routine. I miss the days when you could read between the lines and have your own opinion. I hate the over-explanantion of things( so they make sense?!) in comics these days. I gave my WONDER MAN a big dopey grin and kept him simple. Not one of my favorite pieces, but the fella' I did this up for flipped over it.
