Description
In the book "The Incredible Herb Trimpe", John Romita said, "We always used to assume that Herb was of Indian descent—because of his dark hair and his lean look and his attitude, like an Apache." Based on this cartoon by Marie Severin, apparently, Trimpe's cat was a scrawny thing (complete with headband.)
