DescriptionAs a part of working out plots for the Crusaders All-New Adventures covers I started compiling lists of all Archie's super heroes, as all good geeks do. You wouldn't know it by looking at the 80's series or any of the newer ones but they really have a lot of characters. So many that even including as many as I could in the Crusaders issues there were still lots left. As the idea of the Crusaders covers was to continue and "expand" the Archie universe it struck me that a companion series, like Marvel Spotlight, would be a perfect way to showcase the rest of their heroes. Lots of bad series titles later the obvious hit me and Red Circle Spotlight it was.Bobby Bell taught kids Judo and Jiu-Jitsu back in the 60's ... and then nothing. Only ever a back-up feature in the Fly, Bell was never mentioned in-continuity. When thinking about introducing new versions of old characters it made sense to use Bell somehow as he'd be a grown-up by the 80's. In looking at the GAers the idea of having Bell become a new Captain Commando just seemed a nice fit. Toss in the idea that he'd be an agent of Archie's version of SHIELD, TRIUMPH, just nicely rounded it out. Another great cover from MC here. The faces on the DEMON agents are wonderful and their poses remind me of Sal Buscema (always a good thing!). Chris brings his impeccable lettering and we've got another winner here. As always, I hope Crusaders fans approve :) Original size 11x17 ------- In This Issue ... What Ever Happened to Bobby Bell? When T.R.I.U.M.P.H. (The Reigning International United Military Protection Hierarchy) finds out that D.E.M.O.N. (Divine Eternal Monarchy Of the Nameless One) is about to launch an attack on NATO headquarters they call up their best agent - Robert Bell, the new Captain Commando! Can the Captain stop the Nameless One's plans to disrupt the mid-east peace talks? This Issue's Cover ... The new Captain Commando takes on some D.E.M.O.N. agents. Social/Sharing |
