Antonio Canale - Sexy girl in action (illustration from the book

I have to admit I knew Antonio Canale (Monza, 1915 - Chiavari, 1991) only as a good comic artist: I was aware that he worked since the late 30s for famous Italian magazines like "il Vittorioso" and "l'Audace", then for "Topolino" and others, and that he drew characters like Amok (with the pen name of Tony Chan) and Gim Toro.
But now I see he was even more brilliant as an illustrator! Just look at the great dynamism of this scene, not to mention the amazing brush work: they make me think to some master of the past (this piece dates from 1953), but even to someone of nowadays (first of all, the great Jordi Bernet).
So, when I've seen this beautiful drawing (and another one from the same book, which will be posted later), I literally jumped on it !
