Description

I was fortunate enough to have gotten to Stanley's table early at San Diego Comic-Con in 2013, and I was able to get on his sketch list before he cut it off. I was then double-lucky enough to talk to him and get on his personal list for a dedicated commission that he would have done at home for me as well. But family issues (that eventually led to my Michael Turner Superman original art story) kept me from being able to get that completed in time.

So, I never wanted to post this piece as being a part of my OA collection, but he got too large too quickly and I was never able to get a hold of him or his art handler since. And now that his blank covers are almost as rare as other comic artist's regular commissions, I feel like I have to throw this up in my CAF gallery just to show how great it looks - even if it is unframed.

If I could ever get his or his handler's attention again and be lucky enough to get back on his commission list, I'd love to finish my idea for the character I pitched that he really wanted to draw at the time (Angela in her design from the Spawn comic series) =)

The first picture here is of the cover when I picked it up at Stanley's table, before I let the CGC company take it to be graded. The second pic is of when I finally got it back home from them months later.

As I recall, Stanley and his art handler referred to this piece as "the dark chicken" for some reason, lol

Edit 5/14/2020 :: I found two images from my older photo collection of that year's SDCC. Both pictures were taken by Stanley's art handler, and he was providing live updates to Artgerm's Facebook followers while Stanley was drawing this on the convention floor.
