Description
This is something that interests me and I know nothing about. I do know that Robert Webb was an artist active in the 1940s and 1950s who did a lot of work for the Iger Shop. During his tenure there, he drew many features for Fiction House (Kayo Kirby, Gale Allen of the Girl Squadron, Sheena, Tiger Girl) Fox Comics (Blue Beetle and Dynamo), Leader Enterprises (Saga of the Sea), Quality (Samar and Merlin the Magician), Great Comics Publications ('Guy Gorham) as well as comic adaptations of Frankenstein, Mysterious Island and Kidnappedfor Gilberton's Classics Illustrated line in the late 1940's.

Also through the Iger studio, Webb contributed to such strips as Inspector Dayton and The Hawk. What surprised me was that one source mentions that Webb drew The Hawk syndicated strip from 1952 to 1969. That is 17 years. You'd think you'd know a strip that ran for 17 years. I don't. If anyone has any background on The Hawk, I'd love to hear it.

This daily is pretty nice, though. The Hawk is obviously a pirate strip, and this one is from the seventh week featuring not only a damsel in distress but a "pirate girl" replete with three-corner hat, low cut blouse and pirate boots. Can't beat that!
