Description

Here�s a set of black and white EC silverprint proofs for the 8-page story titled "STIFF PUNISHMENT" drawn by JOHNNY CRAIG and published in CRIME SUSPENSTORIES #11, dated June, 1952 by EC Publications.

This original set of proofs were called "silverprints" and were sent from the printer to the EC offices so that BILL GAINES, AL FELDSTEIN and JOHNNY CRAIG could get a first glimpse of what a story or cover was going to look like. These proofs were made on a porous type of paper which allowed watercolor to be applied during the coloring process, after which it would be sent back to the printer. No more than a few of these type of silverprints were ever made and most were thrown away. These proofs are untrimmed with a border all around and have nothing printed on the opposite side. Some "browning" or fading is apparent overall even though they have been stored in the dark for the past several decades by the artist who drew them.....JOHNNY CRAIG! There is a set of staple holes located in the top left corner of all pages.

This set of silverprints come with a CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY, signed by long time EC historian, collector and friend of Johnny Craig, Roger Hill.
