DescriptionMy eldest son is a great fan of Yildiray Cinar. A couple of years ago, he met with him during the New York Comicon, but was too short on budget to buy more than his sketchbook.Fast forward to this fall when, during the Paris Manga & Sci-Fi Show, I was really surprised to find an Artists Alley packed with some incredible talents that I really enjoyed meeting and/or chatting with (among them, John Bolton, Mark Texeira, Claudio Castellini, Pascual Ferry... and, of course, Yildiray Cinar!). This was all the more surprising that the whole show was more dedicated to Manga Culture than anything else, but, hey, no need to spoil the fun, don't you think? So I met with Yildiray Cinar who was displaying and selling some great art of his, including pages from his recent hit-series, Superior Iron Man. When I saw this gorgeous splash page, I knew I had found the perfect Xmas present for my son, so... here it is! And signed to him, as well! On another note, I have a very special fondness for the Mk II Iron Man armor, the one with the two-points helmet. Originally designed by no other than Steve Ditko, it appeared in late 1963 in issues of Tales of Suspense (then Iron Man's publishing home) and lasted a mere six months before being replaced by the more conventional round bolted mask. But it is forever entwined in Marvel Mythology as it appeared, under Jack Kirby's all-powerful pen, in key issues of the Avengers (including #4 with the triumphant return of Captain America from his prolonged stay in the ice) and the Fantastic Four (their first double-issue story having them fight the Avengers and the Hulk). Talk about history, there!... Well, in any case, thank you Mr Cinar for having revived that glory with such talent! Social/Sharing |

Yildiray Cinar is young, his artistic journey will certainly take him to higher places and to a justly deserved recognition! And, yes, this was a good Christmas!

Very nice piece, Al - I'm sure your son was stoked! A grand flying splash of the MK II armor by Yildiray, who IMO, has done some of the best Iron Man pieces out there, published and non-published! Great example here! Congrats!

Thanks! It still stands proudly on one of his walls! And, not to forget, on top of being a great artist, Yildiray is such a nice guy!
