Ooooofffffff what a winner this is!
A great homage to an iconic cover, congrats !
Gorgeous detail work and so intense, great piece to honor and tribute to Pearson's work.
Holy moly! What an insane Captain America vs Wolverine commission by Jason Pearson! I mean it--Wolvie seems to have gone totally into his berzerker rage here! He's clearly doing his very best to rip apart Cap's adamantium shield! This version is much more aggressive than the Mike Zeck original. I love Pearson's work here! It's too bad we won't be seeing any more new work from the late Mr. Pearson.
Outstanding!
I like what's going on with Cap in this. Cap is putting everything he can into keeping a berserker Wolverine off him. Congrats!
Fantastic homage to the Zeck original. And you can easily imagine Jason's dilema in tweaking the design as per your request. The easiest (and most obvious) way to solve the problem would have been to just do the standard profile shot with the two combatants squarely facing off (ala the iconic FF #112). He also made it harder on himself by choosing not to get the shield out of the way, as Zeck did by raising it overhead. When you told him to reverse it, I'm sure his first thought was to just swing the camera around and show the same scene from the opposite side. But as Jason states, all you would have gotten by doing that is Cap's backside. The only reason Wolverine works in the original version is that the follow thru of his swing turns his body toward the camera. That obviously would not have worked for Cap in reverse (as he is not swinging). Ultimately, I think Jason nailed it. The Zeck cover is one of the all time most iconic comic images ever. And Jason pays tribute to it beautifully.
Absolutely beastly work, this is fantastic.
Love the intensity of Wolverine in this piece!
I'd suggest that you invest acouple hundred Euros into a large format scanner so I can actually see this properly, but I already know what your answer will be!
...That I make the date of my birthday pretty public ? (each year to boot) ;p
DEFINITELY the wrong answer, you cheap bastard!
Can't believe I am just seeing this for the first time. WOW.
