Val Mayerik was the regular artist for Man-Thing in the 1970s, and co-created Howard the Duck with Steve Gerber. He's a commercial artist, now, and keen on the American West. He's drawing an historically accurate portrayal of the Battle of Little Big Horn authored by Jim Berry, which was funded through Kickstarter. It is called "Of Dust and Blood" - look for it.

I bought the painting that is being used for the dust jacket cover, and that is posted elsewhere. Val offered me this "three-quarters done" painting that was rejected as the cover. I thought it was cool, and a terrific companion to the one being used.
