Usagi Yojimbo - Fantagraphics Issue #2 unused page (1987)

Quite possibly the most important (and most expensive) piece of original art that I've acquired. I've been a fan of Stan Sakai and Usagi Yojimbo for a long time, and when something such as this comes up for sale, then you take notice.

First of all, it's a page not a cover. Stan doesn't sell published pages, although he's given a couple for very special reasons to people. Most of the pages, few that they are, on the market are ones that were redrawn before publishing, and thus unused. I've had the opportunity to acquire one or two of them over the years and chose to pass, which looking back was probably not the wisest of decisions!

This page is also from issue #2 of the original Fantagraphics comic. Issue #2. That's 30 years ago. Honestly I don't think anything like this will come again on the market for a long time, if ever.
