DescriptionJonathan Hickman's run on Fantastic Four had so many wonderful and impactful emotional beats that I still often return to them. Few measure up to the moment in this issue when Johnny shoves Ben out of the way to stay and fight off the annihilation wave. Johnny and Ben's relationship is superbly written to by Hickman to build to this moment of selfless friendship and love.Getting back to the cover, it took a long time for me to finally find a piece that represented the series for me. This one absolutely does it. Not only is it from a seminal and historic issue but it also has the FF logo surrounded by each member fighting their respective villains in the issue. Alan Davis' style works well with the Fantastic Four and is close to Eptings interiors, so the cover isn't of a jarringly different style for overall cohesion. Mark Farmer's inks bring out the best of Davis and allow the eye to effortless move around the piece and take it all in. I'm proud to add this wonderful cover to my collection from one of my favorite FF runs! Social/Sharing |

One of the best FF covers out there, and an incredibly significant moment ih FF history. I really miss that team and reading about their new adventures each week.

Davis is such a fantastic artist--and it's really nice to see a cover as well-designed as this one; you don't see this kind of attention-grabbing composition as often in these non-newsstand days. Congrats!

Congrats!I agree Jeremy! This cover was actually printed without the Fantastic Four banner and came polybagged, which allowed Davis to use the entire page to make a captivating old school "who will die" cover with a modern design sense.

Always liked those FF covers that split the team into 4 panels and showed each in their valiant heroism. Alan Davis is a an artist's artist. Congratulations on an excellent acquisition!
