Man on a Nutrition Missision Cover

I was approached a few months back to complete a book cover for a local Nutritionist named Tony Vasallo. Being a major first I jumped at the chance. What we have here will be on bookstores near you soon and I couldn't be prouder. Tony wanted a superhero-esque approach to this cover, so I took inspiration from the Giant-Sized X-Men #1 and, with photo reference, captured his former, heavier self - colored in warm and cool grays - and his slimmer, colored self. The bursting out of the frame worked for Cockburn so why not me? I went for primarily green and yellow tones but also threw in a difference in lifestyle, hence the junk in the background and the more healthier food options surrounding Tony, complete with a food diary and blender. For the title, given weight loss is a personal journey for anyone, I decided to convey that homemade feel by encasing the title in a torn off lined paper sheet with the author (or artist; yes, that's my hand and my mechanical pencil behind many of the pieces on this gallery) putting a name on his pet project. This is an 11 x 14" Bienfang sheet completed with mixed media. This is one of my best and hopefully not my last covers. Stay tuned, folks because the best is yet to come.
