"Ectoplasm" by Jess Mulholland

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I love Inktober. During Inktober I always discover amazing new artists to follow. This year one of the artists I discovered was Jess Mulholland. She goes by wonderandwildhearts on instagram. For Inktober she has been using Mab Graves' Drawlloween Club prompt list.

For the ectoplasm prompt she created this creepy Victorian Girl. When I saw her post it I thought it was awesome especially how she had experimented with the piece for backlighting to give it a very cool ghostly effect. She ended up listing the piece in her shop and I couldn't resist picking her up. As soon as I purchased it I knew I wanted to frame it up so that the piece was backlit just as Jess had wanted it. I was able to find a led light set that came with a motion sensor and is battery operated so I knew that was the route I wanted to go. The next step was to find a frame that was deep enough to house it. I found a nice deep shadowbox at Hobby Lobby that did just the trick. The piece arrived yesterday and after a few modifications to the mat board and plexiglass I had it working just like I imagined it would.

I am very happy with the results and the piece looks awesome especially when the light is on giving her that ghostly effect.
