Description

11x17" ink and inkwash on bristol.

Here they are, the menacing Hellfire Club! I'd been thinking hard about who to ask to do this piece for a while. Claremont & Byrne that the appearance of each member of the Hellfire Club is based on an actor: Diana Rigg, Peter Wyngarde, Robert Shaw, Orson Wells, and Donald Sotherland. The original inspiration was an episode of The Avengers entitled "A Touch of Brimstone". Anyway,I thought Gavin would be up to the task. I told him the story, and that I was looking for someone to do the piece using the same actors as models. He agreed to do it. There was some debate about whether to include Jean Grey or Selene. I couldn't decide, so left it up to him. Here's the result!
