Description

The focused totality of my art collection. Jim Lee's work in the pages of the X-Men transformed the way I interacted with comic books. Before, they were just books containing cool reference images to draw from but something about the way Jim drew the characters made me want to read about what was going on in their world. Everyone on the Blue Team was fantastic however Psylocke is the character who stood out to me the most. As Chris Claremont puts it, "Psylocke is the personification of power and grace. Literal poetry in motion." Jim quickly became my favorite artist so when Marvel released a set of X-Men cards illustrated by Jim, I had to collect them all. Naturally, Psylocke's card was my favorite of the bunch.

Owning the original art is a blessing that I never dreamed possible. That blessing grew in abundance shortly after I received it when Marvel used the image as an official comic book cover. I now own the original cover art for my favorite character drawn by my favorite artist. ENDGAME GRAIL!

"Mighty in both mind and body, Psylocke is one of the world's most powerful telepaths, as well as a mistress of the martial arts. She can combine both her mental and physical skills to generate a "psychic blade" form from her right hand, which allows her to disable nearly any opponent without causing bodily harm. These powers, plus her ferocious warrior spirt, make Psylocke one of the most dangerous heroes alive!"

AND Capt. Britain to boot! How fitting to have the Braddock siblings on the same page. Jim Lee's X-Men trading cards will forever be timeless for me as well. Congrats!

I'm super late responding to this but thank you for letting her go. It's the centerpiece to my whole collection and I doubt I'll ever be able to own anything cooler.

I completely agree. There's about 5 images that come close in my mind but this stands out at the top in my mind.

To me that's one of the best things about visiting this site. I always love reading how people feel about the art... it sometimes opens my eyes to things that I never saw before. It's only right that I keep that tradition going.

Oh, I know this image WELL.  Definitely was a stand out card among many stand out cards.  Perfect pose, and those ninjas below that are about to get it are a sweet bonus.  When you think comics from the time, "Jim Lee Psylocke" is way up there on there list, with great reason!  And ended up getting used later as a cover?!   Noice!  Congrats!

What an extra treat to see this pose and imagery in the ANIMATED series (X-Men '97 Season 2 Episode 2, Psylocke intro), specifically referencing this card art.  Huge congrats again, when I saw it I immediately thought of this.  Cheers!

Thanks, buddy! This is the one piece of art I have that keeps popping back up. The cover, the statue, and now the X-Men '97 intro as you mentioned. I can see that I wasn't the only one who loved these cards so much... ((*Bishop voice**)) "back in the 90s."
