Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 #39 Cover Recreation

I've been a hardcore Spider-Man fan since I could read, and it was John Romita Sr's version of Spider-Man that was my Spidey 101 via Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. So what I got the assignment to do a cover recreation of John's very first regular issue on the title - the story in which both Peter and Osborn learn each other's identities - I jumped out of my skin. It was also a double honor because it was my first cover recreation commission. I poured my heart and soul into this recreation, etched on the blank cover variant of the appropriate Amazing Spider-Man Legacy issue. With mixed media, I've taken a few creative liberties with the background and shading because I felt that this image needed some measure of depth and dimension without overtaking it. It still has that sixties feel. The only regret is my need to use Prismacolor white for that area of the black caption at the bottom; my white out was too uncontrollable and my Uniball white gel pen was too thick. Beyond that, I'm extremely proud of this image and I hope my client will be as well when it's in the mail tomorrow afternoon. It was my honor to tackle this project and coloring the works of one of the greatest comic book artists of all time in my opinon. I only hope that I brought out the best in this image because I gave it my best and that's all anyone can expect of me.
