Firestar Sketch Cover Prelim 01

My introduction to Spider-Man - my big brother in life - was from two sources: the '60s animated series, and NBC's Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends in 1983. That being the case, I was surprised to get the order for a Firestar sketch cover. Further, one that mirrored that infamous panel in Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 #42 that introduced Mary Jane Watson to the world. Using just a screencap from the show for reference for both Ms. Lion and Peter - given I wanted to depict the original hardluck kid as he appeared in that series - I did my best to convey this stunning Angelica Jones with a sexy wardrobe malfunction to tease Pete a little. I thought it was necessary to put Ms. Lion in the shot because it would give fans a clue as to who she is. This prelim was done on 11 x 14" foolscap with mechanical pencils. I haven't decided on what the text will be but a friend suggested one half of it that I might use. More as it develops.
