Badrock and Company 4 Splash Page 6 By Todd Nauck & Lary Stucker

Though I have been a fan of Todd’s art from his very beginnings at Extreme, this is my first original page by him.

The art is obviously cruder than what he draws nowadays but the splashy aspect of the page appealed to me.

Those who know my gallery know that I have a special fondness for Wildstorm art but here and here you can also find art linked to Liefeld’s Extreme studio’s stables of characters. Those titles were rarely readable in the beginning of Image but from time to time you could find nice reads. And nice or even great art.

The Badrock & Company miniseries penned by Tom & Mary Bierbaum was one such occasion.

From Liefeld’s character, I always enjoyed the character design of Badrock, his take on a teenager Thing. Simple design but it works quite well and the fact that for a stone based character, his hide is not crackled all over was a nice touch.

The page speaks for itself here, we have a huge splashy Badrock filling two thirds of the page.

A guilty pleasure I’ll admit.
