I wonder if it's time to put the collection on a skull ban...nah! This one's from a horror book that's not out for a little while yet (at the time of writing) but sounds like it will be my kind of thing. We shall see! It's a striking image in any case. When I saw it in a promo, I was struck by it but wasn't sure how much was digital tweaking so I asked Lee if I could see a photo of the underlying painting. Photos often show texture better than a scan too. I liked it even more as this stark black and white piece so here we are. The book involves a new drug made from the ashes of the dead (yeah, that'll end well) so the splatter effect helps it look like powder has fallen and just landed in the shape of the skull. Vivid and effective.
