DescriptionSOLD AT AUCTION FOR $2,855!Large and impressive 18-1/8x23.25" piece of stiff paper has mixed media original art depicting Leo O'Mealia's iconic cover image to the June 1939 issue of "Superman" #1, which featured Superman in flight above city. Art was done by Joe Shuster (1914-1992), who has boldly signed at bottom right in pencil, adding "© DC Comics" text at left. Art was done in the late 1970s/early 1980s during a period Shuster was creating various specialty pieces; mostly Superman portraits, whereas large recreations like this are rarely seen. Exc.
