Description
As an avid Mets fan, even during a losing season, I can take pleasure in an old Willard Mullin sports cartoon that takes aim at the dreaded Philadelphia Phillies. In this cartoon, from March 1944, a lovely winged fairy god-mother transform the "...poor, miserable earth-bound creature called the Phillies..." into a blue jay. While the Phillie player is happy, the fairy god-mother realizes that "...Alas! Still a Phillie Blue Jay!!" Great stuff by the maestro of sports cartooning.
