Description

The news of Russ Heath's passing prompted me to post a commission I have failed to put up previously.

Russ did an incredible job on this Silver Age cover that introduced many of us Baby Boomers to the adventures of Johnny Thunder which speaking for myself I missed by a year or two.

When Russ did this recreation as was his case he wanted to improve on his original composition so he made it a bit more realistic/ violent to showcase the actuality of a gunfight.

I had the opportunity to commission Russ and also meet him a couple of times. I don't think anyone would be surprised to learn he seriously flirted with my adorable wife.

RIP Russ, you gave us wonderful memories throughout the years with your incredible work throughout the years ranging from your back cover toy ads to the many treads of the Haunted Tank to the meadows, valleys and hills that Easy Company patroled.
