Description
I'm very happy to add another piece by this amazing artist to my collection!
And it's arguably the oldest original artwork I've ever owned, since it was used for an illustrated novel titled "Profughi" (Refugees), writted by G.E. Nuccio and published in Italy by La Scolastica - Ostiglia in 1915.
The caption reads: "I saw that gold coin with my own eyes...".
The illustration as a whole is exquisite, but horse and landscape are just great!

Enrico Novelli (Pisa 1876 - Firenze 1943), called Yambo, was a journalist, illustrator, writer and comic book artist/writer, best known for his children's books.
Endowed with eclectic personality and talent, he was one of the prominent authors of popular literature in Italy during the first half of the 20th century.
Thanks to his fantastic and adventurous stories (published mainly in magazines), in addition to his movie titled "An Interplanetary Marriage" (released in 1910!), he's also considered as one of the forerunners of Sci-Fi in Italy.

(pen, ink and white paint on artboard, 8"x 9,5" image area - signed)

Dopo la pausa estiva si ricomincia!! Un bel pezzo di storia italiana, in alcuni tratti mi ricorda il Calkins del periodo '30.
