DescriptionJust a few weeks after Steve Ditko's passing, I manage to acquire my first page from him, and what a page it is!...I cannot add much to the amply-justified concert of praises concerning him, except to point out what I love best in his art: - His unique approach to storytelling, both very classical and just a little awkward. - His dynamics: how he manages to create such movement inside a strict page frame. A monument to efficiency and economy. - His facial expressions: all the same, all different, sometimes with a single stroke. - His orchestration of crowd movements: how he manages to build up tension with people rubbing shoulders until a sudden event makes it all explode... Check it on this very page: it's all here! Oh, and yes, the Creeper... Let's just say that, when DC launched it in 1968, quickly followed by The Hawk & The Dove, I began to forget about regretting his departure from Marvel... Yes, it turned out to be a short-lived period of joy, but what a thrill! Social/Sharing |
