Description

Years before Daredevil and the Black bat (in the pulps) Baynard Kendrick was writing mystery novels about a blind detective who was assisted by his two seeing eye dogs. Kendrick was the only sighted staff in a program for Blind Veterans so the stories are quite accurate about the lives of the blind. This is an illustration from the newspaper serialization of "Frankincense and Murder".

�He is blind but sees things that we miss��
Captain Duncan Maclain is the detective in �Frankincense and Murder�. He is also blind aided by two German Shepherds, one a seeing eye dog the other a trained attack animal.
