I recently got this piece in a trade, and have always wanted a McFarlane Spawn page, but they are so rare since he holds onto all his art. But the early stuff he did with Greg Capullo has managed to get out a little here and there, so I was glad to be able to get this. All issues during this time just listed the credits as "art by Todd McFarlane and Greg Capullo," with my understanding being Todd primarily inking Greg's pencils but sometimes adding some pencils of his own or even doing entire panels or pages himself sometimes. So it is really hard to say who did what on this, but I know both of them touched it because it is signed by Greg and Todd at least inked it, if not finished or partially penciled it too. So I am happy to finally add one of these to my collection. It has everything you could want in an early Spawn splash page with a huge full body image of Spawn and of course the cape, the chains, the big guns in each hand, and all the insane detail. A solid example of the team up and the title! But best of all, it's a Spawn page by the man himself, Todd McFarlane!

Also, this splash could easily be a cover, which compared to the minimalist cover the issue actually had, could have been cool. I made a mock up of this page as a cover just for fun and added it to the additional images, along with the published cover for reference. Also, the published page was shown in the documentary The Image Revolution when they were discussing Todd and Spawn. So I grabbed a screenshot of that as well off Youtube because I thought it was cool to see it there. :)

Great page at all. Nice to see any McFarlane/Capullo pages here :) They both did fantastic job on Spawn.I can`t wait for new Spawn movie, I really hope I will get dirty and dark R comic movie with good storyline and fantastic visual :).
