DescriptionWallace Morgan (1873-1948) was often referred to as the Dean of American Illustration, and worked for all of the major publications, including the New Yorker, Cosmopolitan, Collier’s, and the Saturday Evening Post. Morgan did a lot of reportage drawing, across the country, and overseas during WWI, when he was attached to the AEF. His ability to capture a lot of information in an understated less-is-more approach set Morgan off from his peers. I’m very pleased to be able to offer a wonderful Wallace Morgan original brush and ink illustration, featuring soldiers firing during the Revolutionary War. The ink work is light and lively, and shows off Morgan’s skill beautifully. He did a wonderful job of composing the image, using the wall as a lower border. Lovely stuff. Measuring 15˝”x near 19”, the illustration is in VG- condition, with a vertical fold in the middle of the piece and a small bit of staining in the right margin, away from the live art area. $175.00 + 16.00 Priority shipping.Social/Sharing |
