Description

When you choose to swim in the shallow end of the hobby, like I have built my collect within, you quickly realize that a Mike Zeck drawn cover probable isn't going to be a part of your collection. Over the holidays, I was happy to see that Mike put several of the covers completed for a smaller publisher up for sale on his website that fit into my budget. I bought the one that I thought was the best.

According to Mike Zeck's description of the cover - the figure art and background art were created separately so that they could be manipulated independently. The pencils were not inked. Photoshop was used to darken and color the cover.

Yes, it is of a character that had a very short publishing life. Yes, it wasn't published by DC or Marvel. Yes, it isn't the Punisher, Batman, Captain America, or Shang-Chi. Yes, the cover was drawn on 2 pages. You know what? I could care less. Looking over the detail Mike Zeck put into the cover makes me very happy that it found a home in my collection.

Great art is great art, art does not care who publishes it, and as long as the owner loves it. That is all that matters!

This and your Timm prelim are my favorites in your collection. Zeck's work has such power and intensity, while also always being well designed, well drawn and full of his signature texture and shading. Congrats on a fantastic piece!
