Description
The late 20s, I think, was George McManus' prime period. This is just before Zeke Zekely entered the scene and McManus was reaching maturity as a comic strip artist. His earlier work showed a crudeness, but as he got into the mid 1920s, the more stylized drawing started to emerge.

I've had this piece for many, many years and have always treasured it. I love the details of the Japanese architecture, as well as the clothing worn by the waiter. Everything is very accurate, down to the Japanese written on the paper. This is one of those pieces that I love looking at everyday. March 29, 1927.

This daily is really a gem, as almost everything done by McManus, in my opinion, one of the true master of the XX century. Amazing piece !

Wow!  I love this. Not sure how I missed it before.  This is a series sorely in need of a reprinting.
