Dark Knights: Metal #4 - Variant Cover

Luckily for me, Tony has been selling some of his pieces recently. Double lucky, he's very easy to work with. Thanks Tony!

It was a bit of a toss up for me because the Dream/Metal connection is still a bit tenuous to me - he shows up at the beginning for a nanosecond, then disappears until the end. I know the arc of the story is still continuing so I'm curious to see if Snyder/Tynion bring him back in Justice League.

I don't know if I condone REALLY mixing the Sandman Universe with main DC, but that aside, this is a great image to have, with Dream, Batman, and Supes! Tony has really captured a lot of emotion and drama in the whole piece. Also, the image is quite dense and rich with detail and perspective.

The lightning on the top translates very nicely to the published cover - always nice to see the artist think about that.

Another odd omission in the series that jumped out at me in Metal was there was never a "Sandman characters created by ..." credit, because when you're reading Sandman it's there every issue. What up DC?
