DescriptionThe Captain run by Kieron Dwyer during Mark Gruenwald's Captain America tenure was one of my very favorite arcs on any title. I really love Dwyer's style on his whole time illustrading Captain America and this page has long tugged at me.While not an ideal costume design for either Steve Rogers' The Captain or John Walker's USAgent I am nostalgic for the striking look of the black and red costume. Had they deviated more from a carbon copy style of Cap's uniform I could have been more on board with it but I still love it and the characters who wore it. I typically don't like the idea of Steve Rogers being anything other than Captain America but it worked briefly and was an organic way to put John Walker to better use. He has long been one of my favorite characters. This is just as simple all Steve Rogers Captain page that makes great use of shadows. I love how Al Milgrom inked this page. It really stands out. I too have a soft spot for this costume, way better than its predecessor Nomad

Congrats on getting such a nice page from this run, Jason. Gruenwald is an unsung hero. I was reading tons of titles in these days, and although Cap wasn't my favorite character, Captain America was one of my favorite titles to read. I also remeber thinking Dwyer might become the "next big name artist" in comics at this time, though it never quite happened. I do remember all the attention he was getting just for being John Byrne's stepson, though!
